Reissue for Record Store Day
A rarefied blend of vintage synthesizers and acoustic instruments, the “Valley of the Birds” album by Emerald Web was created in 1981 by two pioneers in electronic music, space music, and audio technology, Bob Stohl and Kat Epple. The Lyricon Electronic Wind Instrument is a remarkable hybrid synthesizer/woodwind instrument that uses additive synthesis, and a bass clarinet mouthpiece. The album liner notes, written by Kat Epple, list music instruments, and recount some of the band’s experiences in 1981, in the San Francisco Bay Area where the couple lived
