I do love Ron Geesin, full of surprises. This is his sublime unreleased score to “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, a magical important film from 1971, directed by John Schlesinger. Beautiful, weirdly simple, lovely sounds, all good. And the groovy thing is that the reason Ron wrote and played the score for Schlesinger is because Schlesinger was watching the TV in the UK in about 1970 and saw a BBC documentary called “Shapes In The Wilderness” all about using art and painting and creativity to help soldiers who were suffering from shell shock. Schlesinger love the music and wanted the same composer to write the music for his next film. Well the music was by Ron Geesin, so that score is also on this LP. As is Geesin’s 80s score for the fab documentary “Viv” all about Viv Richards, So three scores in one!!!
