Eric and co over at the much lauded Mississippi Records assemble their favourite compositions from maverick classical composer Arvo Part. Known for his “deceptively simple” approach, Part’s music has been a long time friend of ours and his version of “My Heart’s In The Highlands” hits especially close to home. Here the Mississippi collective opt for solo piano pieces, violin/cello duets and even sneak in one string quartet score. Hauntingly beautiful music here. If you’re a fan of Satoshi Ashikawa’s LP on Wave Notation then you’d be a fool not to check out “Für Alina”
