Dublin’s finest All City brings back ONRA’s postmodern classic of instrumental hip hop on vinyl for the first since its 2007. Stuffed with samples culled entirely from Chinese records scored during a trip to his parents’ native Vietnam, ONRA considers the trio of records that make up CHINOISERIES as a tribute to his first ever trip to Asia. While previously unfamiliar with almost all of the material gathered from those well-hunted discs, the Parisian-based producer pulls some magic from their dusty grooves. Tracks like ‘Chop Your Hands’ and ‘Lesson With The Master’ crackle with surface noise, but also stun with breakneck turns and the kind clever, Eastern-minded sound design you won’t hear on most other beat collections
