Recollection GRM
Bernard Fort is a hugely important figure in the development of electroacoustic composition. His 1981 piece “Fractals” was composed at Studios GMVL, the recording house for the Groupe Musiques Vivantes de Lyon that Fort established in the mid-70s. Across a whole side of vinyl we find Fort moving between drones, buzzes, strange knocking rhythms and froggy synth burps in a manner that recalls his peer Eliane Radigue. Despite being composed several decades later, 2017’s “Brain Fever” is an equally dense exploration of sound, this time with more of a focus on birdsong and forest tones
